DU Women's Soccer Falls 2-1 to Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES - The University of Denver women's soccer team (0-1) fell 2-1 to Loyola Marymount (1-0) on Friday evening at Sullivan Field in Los Angeles to open the 2010 season.

Freshman forward Kristen Hamilton (Littleton, Colo.) scored for the Pioneers in the 39th minute as she converted a Kaitlin Bast (Centennial, Colo.) cross from the right side, slipping it past LMU keeper.

LMU opened the scoring in the 30th minute as Tawni Martino netted an unassisted shot into the top right corner of the net.   

The Lions sealed the win in the 86th minute as Martino scored her second unassisted goal of the game off a bicycle kick that slipped past Pioneer keeper Lara Campbell (Anchorage, Alaska).

Denver returns home to host the University of Buffalo on Sunday afternoon at 11:30 a.m. at CIBER Field. Fans can watch online via Pioneer Vision and can follow the Live Stats  at www.DenverPioneers.com. Individual game tickets are available for purchase through the DU Box office for $5 for adults and free for children under two years of age. DU student get in free with their Pioneer ID card.
