DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Former University of Denver golfer Stephanie Sherlock (Barrie, Ontario) earned 2012 LPGA Tour status after posting a final round, two-over par 74 and tying for 20th at the 6,389-yard, par-72 LPGA International Champions Course in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Sunday.
"I am so proud and happy for Steffi. She continues to represent University of Denver women's golf in the highest manner," said head coach Sammie Chergo. "In 2012 we have five former Pioneers playing on the LPGA or LPGA Futures Tour. I am grateful for all of them and look forward to following their progress."
Former Pioneers Dawn Shockley (Estes Park, Colo.), Sue Kim (Langley, British Columbia) and Kimberly Kim (Langley, British Columbia) also participated in the qualifier. Shockley was 88th at this year's qualifier after finishing 13th on the LPGA Futures Tour Official Money List in 2011. Sue Kim finished 64th at this year's qualifying tournament to earn LPGA Symetra Tour (formerly the Futures Tour) status and Kimberly Kim finished in 137th place. Katie Kempter (Albuqurque, N.M.) also plays on the Symetra Tour, earning two top-ten finishes in 2011.
Sherlock put together rounds of 73-72-72-74-74 during the five-day, five-round event that began on Wednesday with 142 golfers. Her final total of 365 earns her Category 16 status for the 2012 season.
