Men's Tennis Stops Three-Match Losing Streak

EUGENE, Ore. - The No. 40 University of Denver men's tennis team beat Oregon, 5-2, today at Student Tennis Center in Eugene.

Denver stops a three-match losing streak - all against ranked opponents - to improve its record to 2-3 overall. Oregon suffers its first loss of the season and falls to 6-1.

The Pioneers won the doubles point behind win from their No. 2 and No. 3 teams. Jonathan Kidane (Stockholm, Sweden) and Yannick Weihs (Guntramsdorf, Austria) beat Douglas Mayeda and Aaron Clissold 8-6 at No. 2 and Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) and Alex Clinkenbeard (Loveland, Colo.) beat Jose Izquierdo and Baptiste Faynot 8-4 at No. 3.

Bonin, Weihs, Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) and Andrew Landwerlen (Las Cruces, N.M.) posted singles wins against the Ducks.

DU returns to action against New Mexico State on Saturday, Feb. 12.
