Pioneers Remain in Lead after Second Round at SBC Championships

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - The No. 44 University of Denver women's golf team leads the seven-team field with a 7-over par 583 as the second round of the 2011 Sun Belt Conference Tournament concluded this afternoon at the Schoolmaster Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at the Shoals. The Pioneers used a 6-over par 294 in the second round to remain in the top spot.

Freshman Tonje Daffinrud (Tonsberg, Norway) and sophomore Kelly Drack (Melbourne, Fla.) are tied for first after two rounds of play with even-par scores of 144.  Drack shot 3-under par 69, while Daffinrud shot an even-par-72, today.

Senior Ellie Givens (Darlington, England) is tied for sixth with a 2-over par 146 after shooting a 3-over par 75 in the second round.

Juniors Sarah Faller (Galway, Ireland) and Anna Christenson (Lincoln, Neb.) are tied for 19th and 40th with two round scores of 7-over par 151 and 12-over par 156, respectively.

Following the Pioneers on the leaderboard is Middle Tennessee in second with an 11-over par 587, trailed by Florida International with 16-over par 592. No. 47 North Texas and Arkansas-Little Rock round out the top-five with scores of 18-over par 594 and 19-over par 595, respectively.
