DENVER - DU Men's Lacrosse coach Bill Tierney has turned in another top-20 recruiting class according to Inside Lacrosse, which ranks the Pioneers class of 2015 as the No.20 best group of freshman in the nation. This is DU's third top-20 class within the last seven years, with the previous two coming in 2008 (No. 10) and 2006 (No.8).
For Coach Tierney, top recruiting classes have been a trademark dating back to his days at Princeton. Since 2004, the legendary head coach has produced two No.1-overall recruiting classes, according to Inside Lacrosse, and a top-10 class in each of his last seven years at Princeton before taking over the helm at DU.
DU's 13-man recruiting class is comprised of five attackmen, five midfielders, two defensemen and ESPN Rise Top-20 goalie recruit, Ryan LaPlante (Fort Collins, Colo.). The freshmen attackmen join a talented group of teammates including 2011 Preseason All-American junior Mark Matthews (Oshawa, Ontario) and Alex Demopoulos (Canton, Conn.).
DU loses only three midfielders from last year's Final Four squad and will look to add some depth with this season's recruiting class. The Pioneers largely veteran group of midfielders will be bolstered by the addition of the two freshmen at that position, and goalie LaPlante will be looked on to contribute to Denver's future defensive success.
