DENVER, Colo. - University of Denver Vice Chancellor for Athletics, Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations Peg Bradley-Doppes has been inducted into her alma mater's hall of fame and received a prestigious community engagement award - both within a week's time.
Tuesday night, Bradley-Doppes joined six other influential Denver civic and business leaders in this year's class of inductees to the Girl Scouts of Colorado's Women of Distinction program. The honorees are selected by their peers and chosen based on their contributions to the community, both professionally and personally. Since the program began in the Denver area in 1997, Girl Scouts of Colorado have honored 387 women who are committed to supporting Girl Scouts of Colorado and serving Girl Scouts today.
The Women of Distinction is widely regarded as one of Denver's premier philanthropic programs, bringing together a group of women dedicated to raising funds to support Girl Scout leadership initiatives. More than $2 million has been raised in 15 years.
"I have been blessed with mentors and colleagues who have shown me the importance of giving back and being a part of a team," says Bradley-Doppes. "To them I owe a great deal of gratitude. The awards and accolades I receive are in large part influenced by people I have been fortunate to work with in my career."
The Girl Scout award added to an already wonderful week for Bradley-Doppes, who was inducted into the College of Mount St. Joseph Hall of Fame on October 19. She returned to her home state of Ohio for the official ceremony during the institution's homecoming weekend. While a student and volleyball athlete at Mount St. Joseph Bradley-Doppes garnered many honors, including Honorable Mention All-America 1977-1978, member of the OAISW All-Tournament Team and Tournament MVP 1978-1979. She also participated in the Midwest AIAW Regional 1978-1979.
