DU Completes California Sweep

The Pioneers improved to 12-8 overall with their third straight win and ninth victory in its last 10 matches. Denver conceded the doubles point, but rebounded with five singles wins over the Anteaters (2-15).
"After a disappointing doubles, each guy went out and did their job," DU head coach Danny Westerman said. "I was especially happy with Othar Kordsachia finding his level, and clinching the match with Max Krammer still in the third set."
After the doubles loss, Jens Vorkefeld (Ostercappeln, Germany) beat Jacob Jung 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Luke Manley (Edmonton, Alberta) then gave DU a 2-1 lead with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Eric Gast at No. 6.
Enej Bonin (Koper, Slovenia) gave DU some breathing room with a three-set win over Fabian Matthews at No. 1.
After a UC Irvine win at No. 2, Othar Kordsachia (Hamburg, Germany) then clinched the win with a hard-fought, three-set win over Mika DeCoster at No. 5 singles.
Max Krammer (Perchtoldsdorf, Austria) continued his strong play with a three-set win over Jon Kazarian at No. 4 singles to make the final score 5-2.
Denver returns to action at the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championship in Denton, Texas, on April 19-21.
