Swimming and Diving Travels to Arizona

DENVER – The University of Denver swimming and diving squads travel to Tempe, Ariz. on Oct. 25 to face Arizona State and UNLV. Denver will first go up against Arizona State on Friday and then UNLV on Saturday.

“This meet is a good chance for us to race some teams that are going to make us be better in order for us to win,” head coach Brian Schrader said. “There is a great level of competition from both UNLV and ASU and it’s always exciting to see our team race outside and at sea level.”

The women were victorious in their first dual meet of the season against Colorado State on Oct. 19, defeating the Rams 181-119 in Fort Collins, Colo. After posting three first place finishes at the meet, junior Bridgette McNally (Lone Tree, Colo.) was named The Summit League Swimmer of the Week.

The Denver men’s team opened its season two weeks ago when it hosted the Denver Relays. In a tough battle, the Pioneers fell to Wyoming but defeated Colorado School of Mines. The women were also defeated by Wyoming, but beat Colorado School of Mines and University of Northern Colorado.

Arizona State swimming and diving fell to Minnesota in its opening meet on Oct. 5. The UNLV Rebels will start their season Oct. 25 at the University of Arizona before heading to Arizona State to compete against Denver and ASU on Saturday.

Action begins for the Pioneers in Tempe, Ariz. Friday at 4:00 MT and continues on Saturday at 2:00 P.M.
