Box Score DENVER- The University of Denver women's soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season after a 3-2 win over UC-Irvine.
In the 15th minute, senior Nicholette DiGiacomo (Golden, Colo.) netted her third goal of the season off of a pass from senior Kristen Hamilton (Littleton, Colo.). Hamilton passed DiGiacomo the ball inside the 18-yard box and she finished it in the upper corner of the net.
Cami Privett finished a cross past the hands of freshman Cassidy Rey (Arcadia, Calif.). Rey ended the game with four saves in 90 minutes. Less than a minute later, Denver regained the lead after freshman Brooke Boothe (Ontario, Calif.) scored off of a free kick from junior Sam Harder (Centennial, Colo.).
The Anteaters scored an equalizer in the 62nd minute when Madi Solow scored off of a pass from Laura McGail. With 11 minutes to play, Hamilton netted a goal off a flick from redshirt freshman Francesca Garzelloni (Parker, Colo.) for the game winner.
The Pioneers finished the day out shooting UC-Irvine 13-10. Rey rallied 3 saves in 90 minutes for Denver. Hamilton recorded four shots, one goal and one assist for three points, while DiGiacomo also posted three points with two shots. Boothe added two shots for the Pioneers.
Denver continues action on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:00 p.m. at CIBER Field against Tennessee-Martin in the Denver Invitational.
