Box Score FORT WORTH, Texas – Junior Sam Harder (Centennial, Colo.) scored the equalizer in the 32nd minute to help the No. 14 University of Denver women’s soccer team to a 1-1 tie with Texas Christian University on Friday evening from Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
The win improves the Pioneers to 7-0-1 on the season, while TCU sits at 3-4-2.
“It was a very competitive game today,” said head coach Jeff Hooker. “I thought we battled back well after going a goal down and showed great amount of determination in the second half and overtimes but couldn’t complete the final pass. A lot of credit has to go to TCU with a great defensive effort.”
TCU found the back of the net first in the 25th minute as Michelle Prokof scored just past the near post off a pass from Maddie Payne.
Harder netted the tying goal, her first of the season, off an assist from freshman Brooke Boothe (Ontario, Calif.).
Senior Nicholette DiGiacomo (Golden, Colo.) finished the night with seven shots, one on goal, while junior Nikki Pappalardo (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Kristen Hamilton (Littleton, Colo.) both tallied three shots each. Freshman Cassidy Rey (Arcadia, Calif.) made eight saves while allowing only one goal in 110 minutes of action.
As a team, Denver finished with 20 shots and 10 saves, while TCU had three corner kicks.
The Pioneers continue play on Sunday, traveling to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers at 12 p.m. MT.
