BROOKINGS, S.D.
- The University of Denver women's soccer team took a 2-0 setback at South Dakota State on Friday evening at Fishback Soccer Park. With the win, South Dakota State will be the top seed at next week's Summit League Tournament at CIBER Field. Denver will host either IUPUI or North Dakota State in the 2v3 game on Thursday at 6 p.m. MT.

"We didn't learn a lesson from the last time we are on the road and got beat," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "They had much more energy than we did, and defended with a lot more bodies, making it difficult for us to play tonight. They worked harder than we did and deserved the win. We pressed at the end and tried to get the tie, but gave one up in the last couple minutes because we couldn't take care of the ball, which was a little disappointing. It's tough when you fall short of one of your primary goals, but now we have to move on and try to accomplish the next one that we set for ourselves, the conference tournament.

South Dakota State found the breakthrough off the foot of Alyssa Brazil from just inside the top of the 18 for her seventh goal of the season. Nicole Hatcher fed the ball to Brazil to earn her fourth assist of the campaign.

Hatcher added a goal of her own to ice the match in the 87th minute, her third goal of the season. Diana Potterveld was credited with the assist beating junior goalkeeper Tina Vargas (Issaquah, Wash.) high.

Denver will be the two or three seed at next week's Summit League Tournament at CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. The full bracket with match times and matchups will be released after the conclusion of play in the league on Sunday night.
