DENVER - The University of Denver volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (15-25, 24-26, 26-24, 25-22) decision to Big 12 conference opponent Kansas in the Pioneer Classic Saturday night. Going into the game, Denver held a perfect record of 5-0, similar to Kansas' 4-1.
The Pioneers were defeated in the first two sets, with a final score of 25-15 and 26-24, despite a rally in the second set. Throughout this set, the Pioneers looked significantly more prepared for the attacks from the Jayhawks, registering five blocks and fourteen digs compared to nine digs in their previous set. Despite two tough losses, the Crimson and Gold were much more prepared in the third set. Denver and Kansas played another nail-bitingly close match, with the Pioneers sweeping the win 26-24.
Ultimately, the Pioneers fell in the fourth and final set with a score of 25-22, and received second place at the Pioneer Classic Tournament.
