The reigning NCHC playoff champion University of Denver Pioneers' 2014-15 schedule continues this weekend as the St. Cloud State University Huskies visit the Mile High City for a pair of showdowns with DU at Magness Arena (Friday - 7:36 p.m., ROOT Sports / ESPN Radio & Saturday - 7:06 p.m., NCHC TV & ESPN Radio). The Pios enter this weekend's series with a home ice record of 8-3-0 on season, including a 5-1-0 mark on Fridays.

Denver has won three of its last five Magness Arena-staged meetings with the Huskies and is 41-38-5 all-time versus St. Cloud State with the rivalry dating back to the 1988-89 season.Currently 4-5-0-0 in conference play, the sixth-place Pioneers (11-7-1 overall) trail St. Cloud State (9-10-1, 4-5-1-0 NCHC) by one point in the 2014-15 NCHC Standings.

"The Huskies are a talented team," says DU head coach Jim Montgomery. "We've got to limit their odd-man rushes and keep the puck in their zone as much as possible in order to be successful against them. Their power play is very strong as well so we'll definitely have to try and stay out of the (penalty) box and be sharp on our penalty kill in both games. "

The reigning NCHC regular season champions, St. Cloud State recorded its first winning sweep of 2014-15 last weekend, earning back-to-back home victories over Miami by a combined score of 6-3. Junior forward Jonny Brodzinski enters his team's series with DU on an eight-game scoring streak (5G-4A-9P) and leads SCSU in points this season with 20 (12G-8A).

"They're a quick team that plays a very aggressive style," says junior Pios forward Quentin Shore, who tallied 1G-5A-6P in four games played against SCSU last season "That being said, if we play our game and come out as the hunters and not the hunted I think we'll be successful this weekend."

Tickets to both of these intraconference matches can be obtained by calling the Daniel L. Ritchie Center Box Office at (303) 871-2336, or by visiting DenverPioneers.com/tickets.
