Oct. 13, 2015 Sophomore DU golfer Chris Korte (Littleton, Colo.) completed his second Top 20 finish in three 2015-16 appearances on Tuesday, firing an even-par 72 in his third and final round to place T-19th at the 2015 Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Pearland, Texas. Korte also earned a Top 20 finish at the last month's Ram Masters Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo. and is now leading the Pios in scoring average this season with a mark of 74.1/round.
"Chris played a great round today as he was fun to watch and I couldn't be more proud of him having another Top 20 finish," DU head coach Erik Billinger said at the end of the round. "Arti (Edelman) also played great today but just had a couple of tough breaks. The course was challenging once again but we also need to play a lot better. We are struggling right now in the 3-5 spots and it takes a complete team to compete with the best teams in the country. It's a process and we are continuing to learn from our struggles."
As a team, Denver finished in 13th place at the event with a cumulative score of 920 (+34). Complete standings can be viewed by clicking HERE.
Up next for the Pios is the Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. on Oct. 30-31. Denver will then enter its midseason break prior to opening the second half of its schedule in January at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
