Sophomore Pio Chris Korte (Littleton, Colo.) turned in a stellar performance on the links on Friday, firing a 68 (-3) to move up into a tie for fifth place in the field of 88 with a cumulative score of 141 (-1). Fellow sophomores Michael Boylan (Patterson, N.Y.) and Jake Kelley (Littleton, Colo.) also had solid days, firing rounds of 72 (+1) and 71 (E) respectively. A full individual leaderboard can be viewed HERE.
Denver began the day in second place behind Long Beach State, but was surpassed by Sacramento State and hosts Pacific during a highly-competitive second round of action.
"Today had potential to be special for us but it didn't turn out to be quite as successful as we were hoping," DU head coach Erik Billinger said at the end of the round. "Chris had a very solid round, placing himself near the top of the leaderboard. His 68 was awesome and if he made a few more putts he could have gone really low. Jake also had a nice comeback round (after shooting an 81 on Thursday) and Michael is playing solid as well. We're in good shape, sitting in fourth place here, and we're definitely looking to finish strong and make a run at this tournament tomorrow."
