Nov. 16, 2015 Junior University of Denver netminder Evan Cowley (Evergreen, Colo.) has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Nov. 15 the conference office announced this afternoon.
Cowley, 20, backstopped the Pioneers to a 3-0 victory over the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs on Friday with a 27-save shutout performance. The Florida Panthers prospect is 4-2-0 this season with a 2.17 goals-against average, ranking fourth in the conference, and has also registered a .921 save percentage (5th, NCHC).
Last season, Cowley appeared in 20 games as a sophomore, going 9-6-2 and ranking in the top five in the NCHC in shutouts (3), goals-against average (2.16), save percentage (.924), and win percentage (.588). Selected by Florida in the fourth round (92nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Cowley earned NCHC Academic All-Conference honors as a freshman in 2013-14 and again as a sophomore in 2014-15.
