NHL SUMMER SIGNINGS
Four former Pioneer players were able to re-sign contracts with their respective NHL clubs this summer. Beau Bennett (Pittsburgh), Chris Butler (St. Louis), Drew Shore (Calgary) and Nick Shore (Los Angeles) all inked new contracts to extend their time with their current organizations. Bennett, Butler and Drew Shore each signed a one-year contract with their individual teams, while Nick Shore signed a two-year deal with the Kings.
Former Pios defenseman Matt Donovan, meanwhile, signed a one year contract with the Buffalo Sabres on July 1, 2015, the first day of NHL free agency. Donovan was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Draft and completed his first full season on an NHL roster in 2014-15. He has played in 67 NHL games in parts of three seasons, notching 19 points (two goals, 17 assists) and 26 penalty minutes. In addition to his NHL experience, Donovan has appeared in 180 games and recorded 119 points (32 goals, 87 assists) and a plus-37 rating in four AHL seasons with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
