PIONEERS & BRONCOS SET TO CLASH AT MAGNESS ARENA

Oct. 26, 2016

Winners of four straight the red hot DU Pioneers (4-2-0) open NCHC play this weekend when the WMU Broncos (3-0-1) visit Magness Arena for a two-game NCHC series (Friday - 7:30pm, Saturday - 7:00pm). Friday's game will air live on Altitude 2 (CHANNEL FINDER) and Mile High Sports Radio while Saturday's contest can be heard on ESPN Denver 1600 AM. Tickets to both of this weekend's games can be obtained by clicking HERE.

Denver is 11-4-1 all-time versus Western Michigan, a record which includes a 6-1-1 mark in games played in the Mile High City. Last season, DU went 3-0-1 against WMU, outscoring the Broncos 16-7 over the course of the four-game season series.

Western Michigan enters this weekend's series as one of only four unbeaten teams in the NCAA while Denver is coming off of back-to-back sweeps of Boston University and Michigan State. Pioneers bench boss Jim Montgomery is anticipating a hard-fought series with the Broncos:

"Western Michigan is always well-coached and this is probably the most talent they've had on their roster since they joined the NCHC," says the fourth-year head coach. "This will be a good test for us this weekend. Our conference is once again the best in college hockey so every standings point we can get will be important for us in our goal to win the Penrose Cup for the first time this season. Hopefully we can get off to a good start in in-conference play on home ice this weekend."

Following their series with the Broncos, the Pioneers will enjoy a bye week prior to traveling to Grand Forks, N.D. to face the UND Fighting Hawks. Click HERE to view Denver's complete schedule.
