Nov. 15, 2016 William G. Tierney Field Dedication | 2017 Schedule | New Season Ticket Deposits
DENVER - When US Lacrosse decided to move their headquarters and National Hall of Fame to Sparks, Md., which included the completion of William G. Tierney Field, the organization wanted to take the opportunity to showcase 24 programs from around the country. The US Lacrosse Hall of Fame will do so by telling the history of these programs and what they have brought to the development of the sport of lacrosse in the United States through commemorative pillars.
The University of Denver lacrosse programs recently completed a $50,000 fundraising project in conjunction with US Lacrosse for a brick pillar to commemorate "The Lacrosse Capital of the West" as part of an overall 15-million dollar project for the entire facility.
"I want to thank everyone who supports and is associated with University of Denver lacrosse that played a role in completing this project," Denver men's lacrosse head coach and US Lacrosse Hall of Famer Bill Tierney said. "The University of Denver has been an important beacon for the sport as it continues to move westward, and is an integral part of the story of the growth of the game alongside the 23 other historic programs that will be featured at this beautiful facility."
US Lacrosse announced in June of 2015 that it was naming the playing field at the new US Lacrosse National Headquarters William G. Tierney Field after the seven-time National Champion head coach. Earlier this fall, Denver and Princeton played in the first collegiate game at Tierney Field.
