Upcoming DU-UNO Series Designated `Fan Appreciation Weekend'

Feb. 29, 2016

The University of Denver's Division of Athletics & Recreation announced today that this Friday/Saturday's DU-UNO hockey series at Magness Arena has been designated 'Fan Appreciation Weekend'. Several exciting promotions will be enacted throughout both games to thank fans for their continued support of Denver Hockey.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of defenseman Matt Carle becoming the first DU student-athlete to win the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the top player in all of college hockey, the first 1,000 fans in attendance for both of this weekend's games will receive a free poster of the two-time national champion. Several other special in-arena giveaways - including four-seat ticket packages to October's College Hockey Inc. Ice Breaker Tournament - will also take place throughout the weekend.

Saturday's game will feature a special tribute to this year's senior class - Grant Arnold, Gabe Levin, Quentin Shore and Nolan Zajac. Videos chronicling all four student-athletes' collegiate careers will be played prior to puck drop, with fans being afforded the opportunity to congratulate Grant, Gabe, Quentin and Nolan on their outstanding contribution to the Denver Hockey program.

For both of this weekend's contests, the Pioneers will again don the special throwback jerseys first worn for February 20th's historic 'Battle on Blake' game at Coors Field which set the all-time DU Athletics attendance record (35,144). Fans will be able to bid on these special game-worn jerseys via an online auction, set to be staged on denverpioneers.com from Thursday, March 3 - Thursday, March 10, with proceeds going towards the Denver Hockey program.

Tickets to both of this weekend's home games as well as Round 1 of the NCHC Playoffs (March 11-13 at Magness Arena vs. TBD) can be obtained by clicking HERE. Information on 2016-17 season tickets can be obtained by calling (303) 871-GOAL (4625). This year's DU Hockey Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, April 15 at the Cable Center on the University of Denver campus; more details on this event will be announced in the near future.
