March 26, 2016 The DU Pioneers saved their best for last at the 2016 edition of The Goodwin, firing their lowest score of the 54-hole tournament (290, +10) to finish the event in 25th place at +50 (890). Click HERE to view the complete team leaderboard and stats for the week.
After firing a stellar 68 (-2) on Friday, Chris Korte (Littleton, Colo.) recorded a solid 71 (+1) on Saturday to finish the tournament in T-35th place at +5 (215). Korte's fellow sophomores Jake Kelley (Littleton, Colo.) and Michael Boylan (Patterson, N.Y.) also carded rounds of 71 on Saturday to finish the tournament strongly.
"Chris, Jake and Michael played solid golf today which was a huge step in the right direction for us," Denver head coach Erik Billinger said at the conclusion of play. "Chris struck the ball very well all week long and if few more putts had dropped for him, he definitely would've been in contention for the tournament's individual title. There are a lot of positives to take out of today's round and I'm really proud of how hard the guys competed here at a tough course against a talented field."
Up next for the Pioneers is the next month's Iowa Intercollegiate. Denver's complete 2015-16 schedule can be viewed HERE.
