Indianapolis - The 33rd-ranked University of Denver women's tennis team defeated the IUPUI Jaguars 6-1 today at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis. The Pioneers improved their overall record to 16-2 on the season.
DU went 5-1 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles matches.
Julia O'Loughlin (Highland Beach, Fla.), Maureen Slattery (Newport News, Va.), Bianca Mok (Boise, Idaho), Charlotte Derbyshire (Stockton, England) and Morgan Barnhill (Austin, Texas) each picked up singles victories in today's match to help claim the victory for the Pioneers.
The pair of O'Loughlin and Slattery beat Samantha Mayer and Sara Sherif (IUPUI) 6-2 in their doubles match, while the duo of Barnhill and Mok defeated Rachel Swartwood and Bobbi Modesto (IUPUI) 6-0.
The team will host the University of Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m. MT. The match will be played at Stapleton Tennis Pavilion on the DU Campus and will be deemed Senior Day in honor of the team's two seniors: Charlotte Derbyshire and Evy Van Genechten.
