DENVER - From April 26-May 5, Denver Athletics held its annual Thank-a-Thon, an event that gives student-athletes the opportunity to call Pioneer Movement donors and personally thank them for their financial support.

"We think it's important for the student-athletes to give back to the donors," development assistant Megan Taub said. "The donors give so much and contribute so much to the student-athletes experience here, and it also gives them a great opportunity to interact with each other."

Each participating student-athlete spent a few hours of their evening calling Pioneer Movement Annual Fund members to thank them for the support they provide throughout the school year.

"The Thank-a-Thon is such a special event because it allows us to reach out and personally thank everyone who supports the entire athletic department," junior gymnast Leah Lomonte said. "These supporters and donors have given us the chance to follow our dreams and to make memories that will last a lifetime. We are so thankful for their support."

"Makes you feel good inside because we don't get to see a lot of them," sophomore basketball player Christian Mackey said. "It's good to actually call them and be personable with them, and say thank you for supporting us."

The event was a great way for student-athletes to show their appreciation to the donors who make their experience at DU possible.
