Stanford, Calif. - The No. 48 University of Denver women's tennis team fell to No. 19 Texas A&M 4-0 today at the Taube Family Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif., in their NCAA first-round match up.
Sophomore Julia O'Loughlin (Highland Beach, Fla.), freshman Bianca Mok (Boise, Idaho) and junior Morgan Barnhill (Austin, Texas) competed in singles play today, but all of their matches were suspended. Junior Maureen Slattery (Newport News, Va.) fell to Rutuja Bhosale (Texas A&M) 6-1, 6-3, while Charlotte Derbyshire (Stockton, England) lost to Ines Deheza (Texas A&M) 6-2, 6-1. Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium) also lost her singles match to Domenica Gonzalez (Texas A&M) by a score of 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles play, O'Loughlin and Slattery defeated Eva Paalma and Rachel Pierson (Texas A&M) 6-2 in an impressive outing against the No. 35 duo in the country. Barnhill and Mok fell to No. 75 Rutuja Bhosale/Anna Mamalat (Texas A&M) 6-2, while Derbyshire and Gracia Mboko (Burlington, Ontario) lost to Ines Deheza and Saska Gavrilovska (Texas A&M) 6-3.
The Lady Pioneers conclude the 2015-16 campaign with a 21-3 overall record and a third straight Summit League Championship title.
