No fewer than three members of the DU Pioneers have generated pre-draft buzz, including freshmen Henrik Borgström & Erich Fear as well as sophomore Dylan Gambrell. All three student-athletes appeared on the NHL Central Scouting Department's rankings throughout the 2015-16 season. Borgström enters the draft ranked No. 9 among European skaters while Gambrell (No. 67) and Fear (No. 157) are both ranked among the top skaters in North America. Denver has had at least one student-athlete drafted into the NHL in each of the last 14 summers, most recently Troy Terry (Anaheim, R5/148) in 2015. In that time a total of 38 Pioneers have been drafted.
