Pioneers Drop 2-0 Result to Hawai'i

Box Score Sept. 11, 2016

Denver 0-2 Hawai'I (Okazaki 55', Steiner 59') | Single Game Tickets

DENVER ââ'¬" The University of Denver women's soccer team conceded two second-half goals inside 4:26 of eachother as DU fell to now 6-1-1 Hawai'I 2-0 on Sunday evening at CIBER Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

Shots were even at 8-8 and Denver held a 4-1 edge in corners and had the better of the possession as the two teams headed into the locker rooms scoreless.

"I thought we put together a really good opening 45 minutes," 25th-year head coach Jeff Hooker said. "We were sharp on the ball, and forced their keeper to make an unbelievable save by picking one out of the top corner.

"I have no idea what happened to our team in the second half. Our execution, and our ability to pass and trap the ball seemed to disappear in the second 45 minutes. We made too many mistakes today to not get punished, and they made us pay for that."

Paige Okazaki got on the end of a scrum in the box off a corner kick in the 55th minute to send the visitors on top early in the second half. Addie Steiner added a second off a through ball from Dani Crawford in the 59th to wrap-up the scoring with her second of the campaign.
