Box Score Sept. 2, 2016 Arizona 3-0 Denver (Crouch 19', Selman-Richards 25', Stoian 54') | Single Game Tickets
TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of Denver women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 neutral site result to [RV] Arizona on Friday night in game two of the Sun Devil Desert Classic.
"We were outplayed in the first half and put ourselves in a hole that we weren't able to climb out of," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "I thought both keepers did a great job tonight of covering some mistakes we made in the back and took control of their box well. We need to move on from this result and focus on Sunday night."
For the fourth match in the first five, Denver (1-4-0) split keepers, with senior Cassidy Rey (Arcadia, Calif.) making her first start of the campaign on Friday night. Rey made three saves and was charged with the first two goals. Freshman netminder Brittany Wilson (Littleton, Colo.) made five saves in her 45-minute shift and allowed a goal on a 54th minute breakaway.
Arizona (2-1-1) grabbed its first of three goals in the 19th minute on Paige Crouch's second of the season. Lex Selman Richards doubled the Wildcats lead in the 25th minute, knocking in her third of the campaign from just outside the 18. Gabi Stoian netted her first of 2016 on the aforementioned 54th minute breakaway.
