DENVER - Senior forward Jessie Dancy (Park City, Utah) scored in the 30th and 37th minutes and junior outside back Hannah Bricker (Fort Collins, Colo.) curled a free kick in the 60th minute to send the University of Denver women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over North Dakota State on Sunday afternoon at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

"I think today was a great rebound from a disappointing Friday," head coach Jeff Hooker said. "We felt we had chances to win on Friday, and it was gutting hosting the first game of the league and not at least getting a point out of it. I thought that we were really efficient in the first half with our chances. We spread the ball around well, and Jessie had two great finishes.

"Everyone was strong on the ball today, and everyone looked to play team soccer, after I thought we were a little too individualistic on Friday night. In the second half, getting the third goal was our key. We didn't want to sit back and invite the pressure. They changed formations on us, and pressed us more, so it was important to get that third goal."

An attacking throw-in from junior outside back Mary DeWalt (West Bend, Wisc.) started the scoring play for Dancy's first goal of the afternoon. DeWalt threw the ball in to freshman centerback Taylor Parker (Aurora, Colo.), who played a cross from the right to the back post for a one-touch finish from Dancy. The assist is the first career point for Parker, while DeWalt picked up the fifth assist of her career.

Dancy scored her third of the weekend, ninth of the 2017 season and the 11th of her career in the 37th minute, heading home a corner kick service from sophomore Hannah Adler (Oak Park, Calif.).

"Everything is clicking for Jessie right now, and the service that she's been getting has been great as well," Hooker said. "Her concentration in-front of goal has been her biggest improvement this year. She's scored a lot of one-touch goals, and has gotten so much better at reading balls out of the air."

The Pioneers went into the intermission with the 2-0 lead, outshooting North Dakota State 10-1 in the opening 45 minutes and taking all five corner kicks in the first half.

Bricker's free kick from the top of the box went to the keeper's left and into the back of the net from 20 yards. The goal was the first of the junior's career.
