Denver - The University of Denver Pioneers have hired Chase Hollander as a volunteer coach, the team announced on Friday.
Hollander joins the Pioneers with eight (8) years of coaching experience, recently serving as a goalie coach at Mike Valley's Elite Goalies Camp, the Sweden Hockey Institute and Elite Hockey Training. During his coaching tenure, the Port Washington, Wis. native has worked alongside Mike Valley, the Director of Goaltending Development for the Dallas Stars, and Thomas Magnusson, the Director of Goalie Development for the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.
"I worked with Chase during my tenure with the Dubuque Fighting Saints," Pioneers coach Jim Montgomery said. "We are lucky to have such a high-quality person serve as our volunteer coach and work primarily with our goalies. Chase will add to our program and enrich our student-athletes on and off the ice."
As a player, Hollander posted a 3.80 GAA and .887 save percentage through 25 games with the University of Wisconsin - Stout (NCAA Division III) from 2013-2016. Hollander played in the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) and the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) prior to his collegiate career.
Hollander graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stout in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minor in coaching. The 24-year old is currently studying sport and performance psychology at the University of Denver Graduate School of Professional Psychology. While attending the University of Wisconsin - Stout, Hollander was a member of the honors program and a recipient of awards including the scholar student-athlete award and the Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence.
