DENVER – The University of Denver women's swimming and diving team fell to 2-1 in its dual season, losing to Rice 107-95 in the second of three sessions at the Dual-A-Pool-Ooza on Saturday morning at El Pomar Natatorium. The Pioneers will take on Tulane in the final dual of the weekend at 2:30 p.m.

Lauren Moden (Parker, Colo.) won three events on Saturday morning to bring her total on the weekend to six. Junior
Kylie Cronin (Marblehead, Mass.) won two events in the morning window.

Denver opened the second session of the three-session meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of redshirt-senior
Heidi Bradley (Victoria, B.C.), freshman
Brandi Vu (Longmont, Colo.), Cronin and Moden combined for a time of 1:43.54.
Cronin took her second individual butterfly event of the Dual-A-Pool-Ooza on Saturday morning, winning the 200 with a time of 2:04.92. Junior
Josie Valette (Boulder, Colo.) finished third in the race with a time of 2:07.87.
Moden earned her second individual freestyle win of the three-session meet with a victory in the 100 free, clocking in at 52.32. The win brought her total up to five combined (individual and relay) victories on the weekend. Sophomore
Aysia Leckie (Georgetown, Ontario) took fourth with a time of 52.94.
Denver didn't win the 200 back, but did earn important points in the 2-4 slots. Bradley took second with a time of 2:04.60, sophomore
Emily Vandenberg (Ajax, Ontario) finished third in 2:07.85 and freshman
Livi Schmid (Fairfax Station, Va.) reached the wall in fourth after her 2:09.80.
Vu led the Pioneers with a second place finish in the 100 breast in the next event, clocking in at 1:05.00. Valette later swam in her second individual event of the morning session, taking second with a time of 25.45.
Denver's 200 free relay team of Bradley, Moden, Leckie and Valette combined to finish with a 1:34.49 to take the top spot.
