DENVER – University of Denver women's basketball head coach
Jim Turgeon announced the signing of three players for the 2019-2020 season. Meghan Boyd (Eagle, Idaho), Sam Deem (Thornton, Colo.) and Uju Ezeudu (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) each have signed National Letters of Intent to continue both their academic and athletic careers at Denver.
Meghan Boyd (#352 in ASGR High School Player Rankings)
Boyd will join the Crimson and Gold out of Eagle, Idaho, and Eagle High School. The 5-foot-10 combo guard averaged a solid 8.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game during her junior season. She was named a 5A SIC All-Conference honorable mention team member as well as being named to the First Team All-State Tournament while playing for the 22
nd-ranked high school team in the nation (
USA Today Top 25).Â
Turgeon on Boyd
"Meghan is going to be a great addition to our team and we are happy that she chose to call Denver home for the next four years. Her court vision and the way she pushes the ball in transition is what made us want her so badly. She is used to playing in an up-tempo system with a lot of offensive pressure. Meghan's personality fits in great with our team and we are excited to get her here." Â
On why Boyd picked Denver:
"I am really excited to become a DU Pioneer and for the opportunity to play basketball at the next level. After taking a visit to Denver, and spending time with Coach Turgeon and his staff, and seeing the dynamics of the team and how serious the coaches were about both basketball and academics influenced my decision. The University of Denver offers me a great opportunity to pursue my degree in business and prepare me for a career as an entrepreneur, but I can also see myself growing as a player and reaching my potential, which I think is really exciting."

Sam Deem (#514 in ASGR High School Player Rankings)
Deem will join the Pioneers out of Thornton, Colo., and Horizon High School. The 6-foot-1 hybrid wing brings a well-rounded game to the DU squad. Deem, who stuffed the stat sheet in high school, averaged 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block per game en route to being named First Team All-Conference after her junior season.
Turgeon on Deem
"Sam is such a great person and has a winning attitude that we really look for at DU. She works so hard on both ends of the floor and she is just the kind of player a coach loves to have on the team. Her IQ is so high and she just really understands the game, which plays into the system we run in a huge way. We are lucky to have Sam joining our team and know she is going to be a fan favorite here at Denver."
On why Deem picked Denver:
"I choose DU not only because of the academic caliber of the education I'd receive, but also the fact that when I stepped on campus and spent time with the coaches and girls. It felt like home!"
Uju Ezeudu (#437 in ASGR High School Player Rankings)
Ezeudu will join DU out of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Reynoldsburg High School. The 6-foot forward was a three-year starter in high school while being named first-team all-district and all-league two times. She averaged 15.3 points and 10 rebounds during her junior season and has totaled over 850 points in her high school career. Ezeudu was also named to the This Weeks Sports Super 12 Girls Basketball Team after her junior campaign.
Turgeon on Ezeudu
"Uju was part of the family the second she stepped on campus. She instantly fit in with our team & staff. Her physical strength at the post position is something we are very excited about. She is difficult to stop once she catches around the basket. Her high IQ and leadership qualities are off the charts and will pay huge rewards in the Summit League. We are excited about all Uju brings to our team."
On why Ezeudu picked Denver
"I chose Denver because as soon as I stepped on campus I felt at home, with the players and coaches making me feel like I was already a part of the team. It's a place I know I can grow as a player and as a woman. I love their style of play and their fast pace. Plus academics is a really big factor for me so going to a school with great academics lets me know I will be challenged. Being far away from my family was something I always planned to do and when making my choice I never thought twice that Denver was the right way to go."
