DENVER – Denver Pioneers men's hockey senior forward
Jarid Lukosevicius and sophomore defenseman
Ian Mitchell were named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week and NCHC Defenseman of the Week, respectively, the NCHC announced on Monday.
Lukosevicius scored a hat trick and a pair of game-winning goals to help Denver notch 5-2 and 4-3 (OT) wins against Western Michigan last weekend. The Squamish, B.C. native finished the weekend with five goals, nine shots, two power-play goals, two blocked shots and a +1 rating. Lukosevicius notched a hat trick in Friday's game, then added a pair of goals on Saturday, including the overtime winner. He is on a six-game point streak with seven goals and three assists.
Mitchell recorded four assists on the weekend with a pair of helpers on each night. The Calahoo, Alberta native assisted on Lukosevicius' game-winning goal on Friday and
Emilio Pettersen's game-tying goal on Saturday. In addition to having four assists, Mitchell tallied three power-play points, four shots, four blocked shots and an even rating. He is on a four-game point streak with seven assists.
