Colin Gilbert wins the mile to highlight final night in Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) won the 1650 free and the University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined for five more NCAA B Standards to highlight the final night of the 2018 Tennessee Invitational on Saturday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

Andi Johnston (Fort Collins, Colo.) opened the final session with an eighth place finish in the 1650 free with a time of 16:46.63. Angie Lindsay (Beaverton, Ore.) and Izzy Smith (Leawood, Kan.) also scored for the Pioneers with times of 17:15.20 and 17:22.41, respectively.
Gilbert won the men's race by just shy of four seconds, clocking in at 14:58.57. Jesse Haraden (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) grabbed a ninth place finish in 15:30.39.
Heidi Bradley (Victoria, B.C.) gave Denver back-to-back podium finishes, taking third in the women's 200 back in 1:57.32. Patrick Groters (Santa Cruz, Aruba) made it three podium finishes in three races for the Pioneers with a third-place finish of his own, reaching the final wall in 1:44.07. Neil Wachtler (Waco, Texas) was two one-hundredths of a second behind Groters to take fourth.
Lauren Moden (Parker, Colo.) won the B-Final of the 100 free with the seventh-fastest finals time, taking ninth overall in the race with a 49.96. Aysia Leckie (Georgetown, Ontario) and Annelyse Tullier (Dallas, Texas) took 12th and 13th, respectively with times of 50.64 and 50.74, respectively. Sarah Lingen (Maple Grove, Minn.) also scored for the Pioneers with a time of 51.29.
Cameron Auchinachie (Binghamton, N.Y.) got Denver back on the podium in the men's 100 free, dropping 0.12 seconds off his NCAA B Standard Saturday morning prelim time to record a 43.18. Hugo Sykes (Weston, Conn.) represented the Pioneers in the B-Final, clocking in at 44.60.
Charlotte Simon (Saint Remy, France) took fourth (2:14.88) in the women's 200 breast to lead the Pioneers point getters in the event. Brandi Vu (Longmont, Colo.) won the B-Final in 2:16.59, while Ally Yancy (Cave Creek, Ariz.) reached the final wall in 2:17.14 to take 13th.
Adriel Sanes (Rosharon, Texas) earned a podium spot in the men's 200 breast with a 1:57.95 to earn an NCAA B Standard. Blayze Jessen (Denver, Colo.) was Denver's lone swimmer in the B-Final, taking 14th with a time of 2:02.20.
Kylie Cronin (Marblehead, Mass.) reached the final wall in seventh in the 200 fly, clocking in at 1:59.71. Josie Valette (Boulder, Colo.) finished in the top-10 in the event, timed at 2:01.51.
Kyle Ewoldt (Gilbert, Ariz.) finished just outside the podium, taking fourth in the men's race with a time of 1:47.36. Following his win in the 1650 free, Gilbert won the B-Final in 1:47.76, the fifth-fastest finals time on Saturday night. Graham Walker (Nairobi, Kenya) and David Mihalic (Ljubljana, Slovenia) also scored for Denver with 12th (1:48.94) and 15th (1:50.82) place finishes, respectively.
Denver's women's 400 free relay finished fourth, while the men finished in a tie for third with Penn.

Additionally, there will be a Community Shop 'n Drop on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., hosted by the Denver Cheerleading squad at the circle drive on the north side of the Ritchie Center.
