DENVER – The University of Denver men's lacrosse team will have six former players in the National Lacrosse League this year, a season that begins tomorrow afternoon in Philadelphia.
Four-time First Team All-America selection, FIL Gold Medalist and 2018 Colorado Collegiate Box Lacrosse League champion
Trevor Baptiste (Philadelphia Wings) will make his NLL debut in the first game of the season on Saturday.
Tyler Pace (Calgary Roughnecks), who was selected ninth overall in the first round of the 2017 NLL Entry Draft, played 13 games in his rookie season a year ago, scoring six goals and adding 13 assists. 2015 NCAA Tournament MOP
Wes Berg scored 43 times and added 55 assists in 20 games in his third season in Calgary in 2018. The Roughnecks will be in action at home on Saturday night.
Jeremy Noble is entering his fifth season with the Colorado Mammoth, having put up 85 points on 27 goals and 58 assists in 19 games a year ago. In his career, Noble has featured in 60 career games (regular season and playoffs combined), scoring 87 times and dishing out 153 assists for the Mammoth. Noble and the Mammoth start their season with four-straight games at the Pepsi Center, beginning with next Saturday's opener.
Three-time All-American
Zach Miller (San Diego Seals) will make his NLL debut next weekend in Colorado after scoring 91 times and adding 77 assists in 53 games as a Pioneer. In his time in the box with the Six Nations Arrows, Miller scored 11 times to go with 20 helpers in eight games.
2018 NLL MVP
Mark Matthews (Saskatchewan Rush) set a league record with 84 assists last season, while finishing with a league leading and career-high 166 points in his sixth season in the league. Matthews led the Rush to their third championship in four seasons in 2018. The former Pioneer will open his seventh season in the NLL on December 28 when the Rush travel to the New England Black Wolves. In his career, including playoffs, Matthews has scored 273 goals, tallied 440 assists (713 points) in 127 games.
