PYEONGCHANG - Former Willy Schaeffler Scholarship winner Jamie Stanton skied for a bronze medal in the slalom at the 2018 Paralympic Games late Friday night. It marks the first time in Stanton's Paralympic career that he has earned a podium finish. For more information on the Willy Schaeffler Scholarship Fund, click here.
The Rochester Hills, Mich. native opened the course with a run of 48.51, earning him the top seed heading into the second run. The former Pioneer then earned a mark of 48.86 in run two, totaling a time of 1:37.37.
Previously in PyeongChang, Stanton just missed the podium in the super combined, as he scored fourth. He also placed 14th in the giant slalom and 17th in the super-G.
The bronze finish is Stanton's highest finish since the 2017 World Championships, where he took fourth in the slalom.
2018 marks the second appearance for Stanton in the Paralympic Games, as he also competed in Sochi in 2014.
