BRYAN, Texas - The University of Denver men's golf team finished up the Aggie Invitational with its best round of Sunday, firing a team score of 301, 13-over-par. The Pioneers closed out the two-day tournament in 14th.
Par for the 7,088-yard course was 72 at the Traditions Golf Club.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Chris Korte, Eric Hagen, Isaac Petersilie, Jackson Solem and John Sand.
Top-ranked Oklahoma State locked up the team title, winning by seven strokes over No. 31 Kent State in the 14-team field. The Cowboys were dialed in all weekend, posting a team total of 5-over, highlighted by an 11-under team performance on Sunday.
"This week was a tough event for us," Billinger said. "We didn't play to our potential. I did see bright spots out of everyone, but overall, we never got it going.
"I'm looking for a bounce-back week as we leave for Arizona State later this week to compete and get after it again. We just need to believe in ourselves and stay confident, as we all know we can play better."
For the Crimson and Gold, Korte recorded the highest finish, tying for 37th at 11-over., highlighted by a final-round 72.
Solem was the next highest, tying for 52nd at 17-over.
Sand wrapped up his tournament in 67th with a 54-hole total of 240.
Hagen tied for 68th with a three-round score of 241.
Petersilie ended in 72nd.
Denver returns to action for the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Apr. 14 in Phoenix, Ariz.
