Denver Battles Colorado College Sunday at 11 a.m. MT

Pioneers and Tigers leadoff a Colorado Cup triple header Sunday in Boulder

BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Denver women's soccer team will look to build off Thursday's 1-1 draw with Colorado State when it continues its Colorado Cup campaign against Colorado College on Sunday in the first game of a triple header at CU's Prentup Field at 11 a.m. MT.

The Tigers were 2-1 winners in their opener on Thursday at Northern Colorado.

Junior Hannah Adler (Oak Park, Calif.) equalized for the Pioneers in the 66th minute in the season opener off a corner kick service from sophomore Meg Halvorson (Englewood, Colo.). Junior captain Brittany Wilson (Littleton, Colo.) made five saves in the draw.
"A lot of players did a good job of stepping in, until we were able to figure out how we were going to play (with some players out)," head coach Jeff Hooker said following Thursday's match. "We had too many turnovers, and started their attack. Once we sharpened up a little bit, I was pleased with how we played and knocked it around. We showed some first game jitters. Overall, I was pleased with the effort."

Denver is 6-5-1 against Colorado College in meetings between the two programs as Division I teams, with the Pioneers holding a 19-15 edge in goals. The two teams met in the 2012 NCAA First Round, a match DU won 3-1 at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium to kick-start the Pioneers run to the Round of 16.
