MIAMI – The University of Denver women's soccer team will battle former Sun Belt Conference mate Florida International on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET/10 a.m. MT to conclude the Pioneers first road trip away from Colorado in the current term.
Denver (0-2-1) is coming off a 2-1 loss at Florida Atlantic on Thursday night. Senior
Leah Swander (Grand Junction, Colo.) netted her first goal of the campaign and the sixth of her career in the setback. FIU (0-2-0), who was idle mid-week, suffered losses to Stetson and Miami during the opening weekend of the regular season.
The Pioneers hold a 9-5-2 edge in the series history, outscoring the home side 28-14. All of the previous 16 meetings came in the two programs' time in the Sun Belt Conference. Denver is 3-3-1 in Miami against the Panthers, outscoring FIU 9-6 in those seven meetings. The Crimson and Gold won both meetings between the two sides in the 2010 season, before FIU returned the favor in 2011.
Following Sunday's match, the Pioneers will return home for three-straight, beginning with Iowa State (Aug. 31/7 p.m.) and Columbia (Sept. 2/12 p.m.) next weekend.
