CHARLESTON, Ill. – The [4/4] University of Denver men's soccer team controlled the majority of the play despite being down to 10-men for the final 79 minutes, but couldn't find the breakthrough in a 0-0 draw with Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon at Lakeside Field.
"I'm really proud of the group with how hard they worked and how they competed as a collective," head coach
Jamie Franks said. "We learned a lot about our team and how resilient and together we are, and how we can defend. To miss a penalty, lose a man to a red card, hit the bar and have a ball cleared off the line, it just wasn't our day today. However, to compete the way we did and not give up many chances, I don't know if someone was casually watching this game if they'd have known that we were down to 10 men. That says a lot about our team and the way we played, but like I said it just wasn't our day with the final ball."
Redshirt-senior goalkeeper
Nick Gardner (Marvin, N.C.) kept his fourth cleansheet of the season and the 26
th of his career.
