DU Hosts Oral Roberts on Sunday in Magness Arena

DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team returns to the floor on Sunday when they host Oral Roberts at 1 p.m. MT in Magness Arena. Sunday will also mark the annual alumni day for the women's basketball program.

The Pios are 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the league and are coming off of their best defensive performance of the season where they held North Dakota State to just 54 points. Madison Nelson recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 27 points and 11 rebounds as Samantha Romanowski added 17 points. DU averages a league best 82.9 points per game which is also sixth best in the nation while making 10.1 3-pointers per game. Head coach Jim Turgeon's squad ranks inside the top-50 in 12 different statistical categories including top-10 marks in points per game, 3-point percentage, 3s per game and blocked shots. The Crimson and Gold are 9-1 inside Hamilton Gymnasium this season but will play their first game inside Magness Arena on Sunday.

Oral Roberts is 10-8 and 3-2 in the Summit League in Misti Cussen's seventh season as head coach. The Golden Eagles knocked DU out of the Summit League Tournament last March with a 76-71 victory in Sioux Falls, S.D. Cussen's team features three double-figure scorers in Lakota Beatty (14.8 points per game), KeniJo Lippe (13.1 points per game) and Maya Mayberry (12.3 points per game) who combine for over half of Oral Robert's offensive output. The Golden Eagles will try and ease Denver's 3-point onslaught (10.1 3s per game) with a defense that is 38th in the nation in 3-point field goal defense. ORU has already picked up two road wins in league play this season over Omaha (71-56) and Purdue Fort Wayne (72-61) and will look to go 3-1 in their first four games away from home.

Oral Roberts holds a 6-3 all-time advantage and the Eagles have won three of the past four matchups.
