DENVER – The University of Denver women's gymnastics team will welcome two more student-athletes for the upcoming 2019-20 season, head coach
Melissa Kutcher-Rinehart announced on Wednesday.
Victoria Fitts (Fort Collins, Colo.) and
Amoree Lockhart (Fort Worth, Texas) will join the Pioneers ahead of the winter quarter and in time for the 2020 season.
"We're excited to welcome Amoree and Victoria to our team beginning in December," Kutcher-Rinehart said. "They will provide a boost of energy, enthusiasm and depth to our roster, and both athletes embrace our philosophy of teamwork, character and excellence."
Fitts is a Level 10 gymnast from Premier Gymnastics of the Rockies in Loveland, Colo. In 2018, she was the Colorado state vault champion and finished eighth in the all-around. At the 2018 Region 3 Championships, she placed eighth on vault. She earned fourth-place finishes on vault and bars at the 2019 Colorado State Championships, as well as a sixth-place finish in the all-around.
"Victoria is intelligent, responsible and a diamond in the rough," Kutcher-Rinehart said. "It's great to have another Colorado athlete on our team, and I'm looking forward to watching her continue to grow academically and athletically here at DU."

Lockhart is also a Level 10 gymnast and joins Denver from Empire Gymnastics in Texas. She is a three-time JO Nationals qualifier, tying for third on beam and placing ninth in the all-around in 2019. In total, she has 10 top-10 finishes at JO Nationals in her career including the all-around title in 2016, earning her a spot on the JO National team that year. Twice she competed at the prestigious Nastia Liukin Cup, placing third on floor and fourth in the all-around and on beam in 2015.
"Amoree is powerful and brings a high level of difficulty and incredible showmanship," Kutcher-Rinheart said. "She's an excellent competitor, and I know she will love and embrace collegiate gymnastics on the biggest stage and at the highest level."
