MIAMI – The University of Denver women's swimming and diving program dropped a dual to Rice to begin the Fifth Annual Dual-A-Pool-Ooza at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.
Denver's 400 medley relay to start the meet and
Kylie Cronin's (Marblehead, Mass.) victory in the 100 fly highlighted the Pioneers afternoon in Miami.
Sophomore
Natalie Arky (Highlands Ranch, Colo.), classmate
Brandi Vu (Longmont, Colo.), senior
Josie Valette (Boulder, Colo.) and senior
Sarah Lingen (Maple Grove, Minn.) swam the winning 400 medley relay, dropping nearly four seconds off their time with a 3:44.61 on Friday afternoon to outswim the relays from Rice, FIU and Tulane.
Cronin outswam the other 15 swimmers in the 100 fly to take that event, edging her teammate Valette by 0.14 seconds with her 55.01.
In the dual against Rice, freshman
Sofia Nosack (Beaverton, Ore.) picked up her second backstroke victory of the season, taking the 200 with a 2:02.57. Arky finished second in the dual in the event with her 2:02.73.
Junior
Charlotte Simon (Saint Remy, France) finished first in the dual and second overall in the 200 breast with her 2:17.67.
In the final distance race of the evening, sophomore
Angie Lindsay (Beaverton, Ore.) swam the second fastest 500 free in the dual, clocking in at 5:00.95.
