Denver Completes Day 1 of Hoakalei C.C. Invitational

McCoy and Ho Won each shoot 72
'EWA BEACH, Hawaii – The University of Denver men's golf team completed day one of the Hoakalei C.C. Invitational on Monday at the par-72, 7,248 yard Hoakalei Country Club. The Pioneers are tied for 14th with a first-round team score of 292 (4-over).
Ole Miss leads the 20-team field with a score of 270 (18-under). They are followed by East Tennessee State (276, 12-under) and CSU Fullerton (283, 5-under) to round out the top three.
Jun Ho Won and Cal McCoy each recorded an even-par performance in the first round, sitting tied for 37th. Sophomore Carson Griggs is tied for 49th after the first day with a score of 73 (1-over).
Esteban Missura heads into the second day of play tomorrow tied for 75th with a score of 75 (3-over) and Connor Jones recorded an 81 (9-over) on the first 18.
Two Pioneers – Jackson Solem and Eric Hagen – are competing as individuals. Solem finished day one two-over (74) and tied for 62nd, while Hagen is tied for 75th with a 75 (3-over).
The Hoakalei C.C. Invitational resumes with round two tomorrow morning.
