DENVER – Junior forward
Jaakko Heikkinen of the No. 4 Denver Pioneers hockey team (9-3-2, NCHC 1-3-2-1) was named NCHC Forward of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Heikkinen had two goals and two assists in Denver's 2-1 loss and 6-1 win against No. 20 Western Michigan last weekend. In addition to his four points, the Finnish forward led all Pioneer skaters with seven shots and recorded a +2 plus/minus rating. Heikkinen scored goals in both games of the series, adding a pair of assists in Saturday's win to record his second-career three-point game.
