GREELEY – The University of Denver men's basketball team fell 86-64 to Northern Colorado on Tuesday at the Bank of Colorado Arena. The Pioneers were led by senior
Ade Murkey, who finished with a team-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, his first collegiate double-double of his career.
Jase Townsend added 12 points, his sixth straight game in double figures.
Jonah Radebaugh led the way for UNC with a game-high 26 points and six assists, one of four players to finish in double figures.
Denver got in a hole early, going down 7-0 within the first two minutes of the contest before a layup from
Roscoe Eastmond got the Pioneers on the board.
Northern Colorado pushed its lead to double digits after a trio of made free throws from Bodie Hume made it 15-4.
DU again though fought itself back into it, closing to within seven points at 33-26 after a made 3 from
Taelyr Gatlin on a great find from Murkey with 4:10 left in the opening 20 minutes of action.
But a game-breaking 19-9 run over the final four minutes gave the Bears a 17-point lead by at the half, 52-35.
UNC was effective at getting to the paint in the first period, outscoring DU 28-18 in points down low.
Northern Colorado opened the second half strong, building its lead to 22 after a 3 from Hume at the 17:27 mark, his third make from deep on the evening.
Pioneers couldn't get any closer than 15 the rest of way en route to dropping its third straight game against UNC.
