Denver Places 36 Swimmers and Divers on All-Summit League Teams

19 women and 17 men earn All-League honors following Summit League Championships

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Denver men's and women's swimming and diving programs combined to place 36 swimmers and divers on the 2019 All-Summit League Teams following last weekend's Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships presented by the U.S. Air Force Special Operations.

As a team, the Pioneers captured their sixth-consecutive sweep of the men's and women's Summit League Championships. Denver's women set the Summit League Swimming and Diving Championship records for points in a single championship with 1183, breaking the previous women's mark held by Oakland with its 1093 points in the 2001 campaign. The Pioneer men hold the men's Summit League record, earning 1099 points at the 2015 championship.

Following the championships, Colin Gilbert (Kamloops, B.C.) was named the men's Championship Swimming MVP, while David Mihalic (Ljubljana, Slovenia) earned Newcomer of the Championship honors. On the women's side, Charlotte Simon (Saint Remy, France) was named the Championship MVP and McKayla Sanchez (Temecula, Calif.) was named the Newcomer of the Championship.

Cameron Auchinachie (Binghamton, N.Y.) broke the 50 free and 100 free Summit League Championship records last weekend.

Denver claimed 37 of the 38 swimming events at this year's championship, running the stretch out to 115 event wins in the last 116 swimming events at the Summit League Championships dating back to the final day of the 2016 season. In all, Denver turned in 22 NCAA Standard times at last week's event.
