DENVER – University of Denver men's lacrosse junior attack
Ethan Walker (Peterborough, Ontario) and senior close defender
Dylan Gaines (Baltimore, Md.) have been named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, the award committee announced on Thursday.
A USILA Third Team All-America selection a year ago, Walker has 14 points through four games in 2019 on nine goals and five assists. With a year and a half still remaining in his career, Walker is sixth in Denver's DI history in career points with 156, seventh in goals with 97 and 10
th in assists with 59. On Monday, Walker earned BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week honors after a 12-point weekend that included a seven-point performance against Cleveland State that included five goals.
Another USILA Third Team All-America selection a year ago, Gaines has helped lead Denver to the third-best defense in the country a year ago, and the second-best defense in the country so far this year, the two highest rankings in program history on that side of the ball. Gaines is currently third in Denver's DI history in caused turnovers with 46, four behind Brendan Deblois (2008-11) for second. The Baltimore, Md., native caused five turnovers and picked up four ground balls in Denver's 16-8 win over Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon.
