DENVER – The University of Denver women's basketball team will face Oral Roberts on Wednesday night at 6 pm MT at the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Denver (12-10, 5-4) is looking to bounce back from its first two-game losing streak in the Summit League after loses to Purdue Fort Wayne (70-55) and South Dakota State (83-67). Jim Turgeon's team sits inside the top-50 in the NCAA in 11 categories and ranks 11
th in the nation in points per game while featuring four starters who average double-figures. The Pios and Golden Eagles met just over two weeks ago in the Mile High City and DU won 93-76 after shooting 54 percent from the floor and 52 percent from beyond the arc. Denver's defense also played solid in the first matchup, holding ORU to just 34 percent from the field.
Oral Roberts is 12-11 overall and 5-5 in the Summit League in head coach Misti Cussen's seventh season and is also coming off of a loss to South Dakota state. The Golden Eagles are led by a trio double-figure scorers in KeniJo Lippe (13.4 points per game), Maya Mayberry (14.0 points per game) and Lakota Beatty (14.6 points per game) who combine for over half of ORU's offensive output. With just over five games remaining in the regular season Oral Roberts and Denver are fighting for positioning in the league once again after the teams met up in the first round of the Summit League Tournament. The Eagles snuck by the Pios 76-71 despite 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals from
Samantha Romanowski.
