Pioneers Close Out Bayou City Collegiate

McCoy ties for 22nd
HOUSTON – University of Denver Golf team closed out the Bayou City Collegiate on Tuesday. The Pioneers posted a team score of 295, 7-over-par for the round.
Par for the 7,254-yard course was 72 at the Golfcrest Country Club.
Head coach Erik Billinger went with the lineup of Cal McCoy, Esteban Missura, Eric Hagen, John Sand and Carson Griggs.
Overall, Denver finished tied for 10th at 24-over (888).
Sam Houston State took home the team title at 2-under, six strokes ahead of UTSA.
McCoy led the way for DU, tying for 22nd at 4-over. The former Regis standout had his game going on Tuesday, shooting 2-under in his final 18 holes of the tournament, notching his 11th round of par-or-better in his debut season.
Fellow freshman Griggs was two strokes behind at 6-over, good for 31st.
Sand wrapped up his tournament tied for 47th at 10-over.
Missura tied for 60th at 12-over.
Hagen closed out in 67th.
The Crimson and Gold make a quick turnaround and heads to Salt Lake City for the BYU Classic on Friday.
