INDIANAPOLIS – The Denver Pioneers men's hockey team has been selected to host the NCAA West regional for the 2020 and 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Championship at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., the NCAA announced on Friday.
 
"We are happy and honored to work with the Spectra Venue Management staff at the Budweiser Events Center to host an NCAA regional in Loveland," Director of Athletics Ron Grahame said. "Everyone looks forward to the opportunity to bring NCAA hockey to the great fans in the Rocky Mountain area. We are thankful for everyone's hard work to make this bid possible."

Loveland will host the regional on March 27-28, 2020 and March 27-28, 2021. Next season will mark the first year in which the Budweiser Events Center will host an NCAA regional as well as the first year in which an NCAA hockey tournament event has been held in the state of Colorado since the 2008 Men's Frozen Four at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
 
"We are thrilled to host the regional in Loveland," Richard and Kitzia Goodman Head Coach David Carle said. "Loveland is a great hockey community that deserves an event like this. Also, for the first time in a long time, our great fans will be able to drive to watch us compete in the NCAA tournament as we strive for our program's ninth national championship."
 
Denver has made 29 appearances in the NCAA tournament, 16 appearances in the Frozen Four and won eight National Championships. The Pioneers have made 12-straight appearances in the NCAA tournament and have advanced to the Frozen Four in three of the last four years.
